Christians must preach without proselytising
Sir,
The Pope has warned against proselytism (News Report, 1 April).This does not mean sharing our faith with others. As the Second Vatican Council has taught, the Church is bound to proclaim Christ as the way, the truth and the life for all. Proselytism is rather the conversion of others through unworthy means such as coercion or seduction with material, educational or medical benefits.The Pope is right to condemn the use of such means in the Church’s proclamation of the Gospel.
